Puppy Training and Socialization

You can start classes with your puppy at 12 weeks old! Early socialization experiences are crucial for helping puppies become confident, relaxed adults. Our primary goal in our puppy classes is to introduce puppies to new things in a positive way, and to empower owners to continue the critical socialization work outside of class.
This class is so much fun and hugely educational! The earlier you start training, the easier it will be! Learn how to handle the most urgent puppy training issues, including safe socialization with people, puppy biting, house training, and chewing. This class focus on puppy biting, socialization with other dogs and people (especially children men and strangers), calming and handling, attention, basic obedience skills (come, sit, down, stay, and walk on leash) and household manners (crate training, potty training and chew toy training).
Our expert instructors will teach you how to use food in training without it becoming a bribe so that your puppy responds reliably whether you have food or not. Learn how to improve your puppy's focus, speed of recall and length of stays off-leash, at a distance and when distracted.
Learn how to introduce your puppy to people, places, dogs and new situations so that they thoroughly enjoy the company of all kinds of folks, especially children, men and strangers. Learn how to teach your puppy to play Fetch and Tug and to use these games as rewards in training.
Our group dog training classes are a fun and sociable way to learn basic obedience and is taught in a group setting. Group training offers an excellent, structured situation to socialize dogs in a controlled manner. Our Classes is designed for dogs of all ages and sizes from puppies to problem dogs. It's all about having a well behaved dog through clear communication, consistency and motivation. We can help resolve unwanted behaviors in your like mild to severe separation issues, pulling and reactivity/aggression on leash, rude greetings and bad behaviors around guests, bad door manners, barking, counter surfing, door dashing, chewing, digging, and more.

AKC S.T.A.R PUPPY CLASS
This program is based around the AKC requirements and teachings for your “STAR” puppy. This is a 6 week structured course on basic commands, general puppy care, and how to have a jump start into a canine good citizen. The overall structure of this group class is teaching owners how to be responsible pet owners. Puppies will also have structured socialization (play time) with other pups in the class!
There is a test at the end of the 6 weeks and if your puppy passes they can then receive the S.T.A.R. puppy medal, certificate, as well as being listed in the AKC records for S.T.A.R. Puppies. All Puppies are welcome Purebred and Mixed breeds alike up to 6 months of age.
AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CERTIFICATION
We are certified CGC evaluators! This is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a very nice certificate from the American Kennel Club.
You and your dog will practice the CGC exercises:
- Accepting a friendly stranger
- Sitting politely for petting
- Appearance & grooming
- Out for a walk (loose leash walking)
- Walking through a crowd
- Sit and down on command and Staying in place
- Coming when called
- Reaction to another dog
- Reaction to distraction
- Supervised separation
This class is perfect for continuing your dog’s education. You and your dog will work toward creating a better relationship while your dog learns to listen to you consistently. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you’ll discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog.
